To transfer shares from one demat account to another demat account offline, follow these steps:

1. Submit the Delivery Instruction Slip (DIS) to your DP (CDSL)

  • A maximum of 5 securities (ISINs) can be transferred per DIS.
  • If the receiver of the securities is not added as a beneficiary, add a beneficiary on CDSL. To learn how to add a beneficiary on CDSL, see How to add a beneficiary on CDSL to transfer securities? Once a beneficiary is registered. it is not required to register again for any future transfers to the same beneficiary.
  • An email will be sent to the sender to verify the off-market transaction by the DP. To verify the Transaction, follow these steps:
    • Click on the link received in the email. If you don’t receive the mail then visit: https://www.cdslindia.com/Authentication/OTP.aspx
    • Enter seller’s (transferor’s) PAN and Demat Account No. The demat account number is the 16-digit ID.
    • Click on Submit.
    • Tick on the transaction details and click on Generate OTP.
    • Enter the OTP and click on Accept.
    • Click on OK.

2. Submit the Delivery Instruction Slip (DIS) to your DP (NSDL)

  • A maximum of 5 securities (ISINs) can be transferred per DIS.
  • If the receiver of the securities is not added as a beneficiary, add a beneficiary on NSDL. To learn how to add a beneficiary on NSDL, see How to add a beneficiary on NSDL to transfer securities? Once a beneficiary is registered. it is not required to register again for any future transfers to the same beneficiary.
  • An email will be sent to the sender to verify the beneficiary details for off-market transactions. To verify the transaction, follow these steps:
    • Click on the link received in the email. If you don’t receive the mail then visit: https://eservices.nsdl.com/iweb/#/acc-validation
    • Enter seller’s (transferor’s) PAN and Demat Account No. The demat account number is the 16-digit ID.
    • Click on Submit.
    • Tick on the transaction details and click on Generate OTP.
    • Enter the OTP and click on Accept.
    • Click on OK.
