According to a recent study, the Indian Premier League (IPL)’s advertising revenue increased significantly in the 2023 season to 10,120 crore. A total of 65% of this was generated directly by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), franchise owners, and broadcasters.

Besides, a report by consulting firm Red Seer said fantasy sports platforms earned revenues of ₹2,800 crore in this IPL season. Approximately 61 million users participated in fantasy games on the platforms, when the matches were in progress.
Even though the revenues were 100 crore less than Red Seer’s early projections, they were still 25% higher than the 2,250 crore they were the previous year. Gross gaming revenue, according to Red Seer, is the amount of commission received by these platforms prior to subtracting goods and services tax, cashback, and bonuses.
