In a First, Polymatech Rolls Out Made-in-India Semiconductor Chips
Mumbai, October 11, 2022 The manufacturing of its opto-semiconductors and memory modules has begun at Polymatech, the leading semiconductor chip maker in India using Japanese technology. The company presently produces 400,000 chips per day at its primary manufacturing facility in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, and they have already been sold on the market. The goal of Polymatech is to produce 300 million chips annually, or 1 million chips per day, within the next few months.
This manufacturing deployment follows the company’s statement in July about significant business growth and investments totaling US$ 1 billion in the production of semiconductor chips. Applications for opto-semiconductors include illumination, medicinal, and food sanitization. Both HTCC and COB Opto-Semiconductors have been fully packed by Polymatech. Both, HTCC (High Temperature Co-fired Ceramic substrates) and COB (Chip on Board) all are wholly conceived, designed and developed by Polymatech and these are closed Tools. COBs are packed for High Power Lighting applications used for Stadium Lighting, Port Lighting, Airport Lighting, etc. while opto-semiconductors packed in HTCC substrates are used in Air Crafts, Metro Trains, Mining Stations and Traffic Lights etc. Further, UVa chips that are in manufacturing are used in medical and food sanitization applications. Memory modules that are in manufacturing at Polymatech form an integral part of all major electronic systems.
In response to this most recent breakthrough, Eswara Rao Nandam, the founding president of Polymatech, remarked, “We are happy to be announcing the full-fledged deployment of manufacturing for our Opto-semiconductors and memory modules. More than 97% CRI (Colour Rendering Index) is provided by our lenses. The Indian market will make up a sizeable percentage of the worldwide semiconductor sector, with a forecast rise of US $64 bn by 2026, reaching a market value of US$ 1,340 bn by 2029. This offers tremendous development potential when combined with the persistent global chip scarcity. By 2025, Polymatech wants to rank among the biggest chip producers in Asia by fully using this worldwide opportunity.
Polymatech is also in the last stages of production trials for semiconductor chips that will have general and medical applications in addition to opto-semiconductors and memory modules. This will be mostly accomplished by their enormous 150,000 Sq. Ft. semicon manufacturing factory in Tamil Nadu. This cutting-edge facility has fully embraced the Industry 4.0 concept and has created temperature and RH-controlled clean rooms that are furnished with Japanese-imported technology. The business is also focusing on the forward and backward integration of its current products as well as the indigenization of manufactured goods.
